Artist Statement: This is my 12-year-old brother Hudson. He's a super funny guy and loves to be around people almost as much as he plays video games. He obviously means a lot to me, being my brother, and I try to look out for him as much as I can so he can be the best person possible. The room these photos were taken in were great for the lighting on Hudson's face, as the window next to him allows the light to shine on one side of his face to give a Two-Face type of feel. I made sure to set up the photos from the side to illuminate that, but I also allowed Hudson to keep doing what he already was doing so that I could capture the confusion he felt when I needed to take photos of him.
Artist Statement: This is my 15-year-old brother Ethan. He's a fun guy to be around, always wants to do something fun, and is pretty much my best friend. With both of us being in high school, it's easy to relate to each other and I try to be somewhat of a role model for him. The setting for these photos was my room. I had Ethan stand directly in front of the window to maximize the natural light.
Artist Statement: This is my mom. She means the world to me and she keeps everyone from going crazy all the time. She's funny, outgoing, and very loving. The setting for the portraits is in our living room. There are many windows in our living room, making it easy to have natural light from all points.
Artist Statement: This is my dad. He's fun, extremely helpful, and works hard. I try to make him and my mom proud with everything I do because I look up to both of them. The setting for each portrait was in the living room, with one on the couch and one on the stairs. The natural light around the living room made it possible to have natural light in both places without creating shadows.
Artist Statement: This is me after about a month of quarantine and not shaving. It's been a struggle to make myself feel like it's a normal time, and this is an example of that. Since these portraits, I have shaved, but it still takes a lot to keep a good mentality. I used my room for these portraits and had my brother take the pictures of me. I stood in front of the window to ensure enough natural light came through, and used my room because it is where I spend the most time during the day.
