I chose to photograph Crisler Arena and the Player Development Center because I have been such a big Michigan basketball fan my whole life and I like how the arena looks. I tried to convey the significance of the building by taking photos from the parking lot where people enter for basketball games. Making sure the building is towering over the parking lot emphasized that significance.
I chose to take photographs of the Graduate Studies building because I have been in front of it and on that lawn for years at Top Of The Park. Many people around Ann Arbor know of this building solely because of Top Of The Park. I am trying to convey the feeling that this is a very special place for people in Ann Arbor because of the summer festival every year. I do this by taking a picture that leads to the building as well as taking closeups that display verticality.
I chose to photograph Pioneer High School because it is the original Ann Arbor High School and it was close to downtown, making it easier to take photos of with the time I had. The photos are designed to show how much Ann Arbor has to offer and give a feeling of interest. I did this by taking photos of each side of Pioneer: from the front, the side, and the back.
I chose to photograph this building because I liked the way it was built, which is different from most other buildings around campus. There is an aura about this building, perhaps due to its aged look, or the columns in the forefront. I attempted to capture this aura by getting a front shot as well as some images from the side.
I chose to photograph the outside of the indoor track building because I've been there so many times before at Michigan sports camps. It has a special meaning to me, and I tried to capture the memories I've had with the different sides of the building. It's supposed to give a feeling of nostalgia, even if that meaning is only to me.
